Blondie's Sports Grill - Plantation, FL

The Blondie's Burger

It's been way too long since I tried a new burger. So when my friend and roomie boasted about a new place that recently opened up literally down the street with giant burgers, I decided to give it a shot. The place is Blondie's Sports Grill and I already know what your thinking, "Blondie's by the beach?" No, not that cesspool. This is a new bar the opened up in the Plantation area.

The first thing that struck me was that the restaurant sits in the corner of a medical complex; an odd place for a restaurant.  Secondly, we were the only customers there besides three drinkers sitting at the bar. Not a good sign, but they are new, and the fact that I live down the street and didn't even know they existed points to the fact they they are doing a horrible job of marketing and promotion. Still maybe this was a new hidden gem I thought. Let's see...

AppetizerLoaded Nacho Supreme $8.69 - Crispy nachos covered with melted cheese, homemade chili, guacamole, jalapenos, and sour cream

Not really much to say here. The chips were store bought, the chili was sub par with no heat, and the salsa served was watered down.

Burger - The Blondie's Burger $9.49 - 10 oz certified premium Angus beef grilled to perfection with Blondie's steak sauce, cheddar, provolone, and two onion rings on a Kaiser roll

They really need to edit their to description to "grilled to imperfection". The burger I received was far from the supple pink, moist, medium rare I ordered and was more on the super well done, hockey puck-like, dry, and tasteless side. The 10 oz patty lacked any seasoning, especially salt, and the doneness forced me to drown it in ketchup, as their "famous" steak sauce did not make much of an impact. The good part was the melted cheese which they don't skimp on and the toasted kaiser which I couldn't complain about.

Side - Fries

They tasted like the frozen variety with the tiniest pinch of salt. Blah!

Conclusion: Blondie's Sports Grill has an unusual location which does not serve them well, but the decor seems pleasant. Unfortunately, restaurants get judged on the food. Here is where they fail. Maybe it is because they are new or maybe because they don't really know any better. In either case my advice is to pass on this place.

  1. As a S. Florida daily deal website (Menzspot.com) we'll definitely pass on working with Blondies! Thanks for the review!
